Our Weekend...

...consisted of hanging out with these two...

and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

27th Birthday celebration

My birthday this year was just perfect.  Since the news of my sister's baby and with all of us now in Charleston (including my brother in grad school) , my parents bought a little house down in Charleston to be close to us and have a place to stay once the baby comes.  It has made it so fun to have my parents close by and be able to do more "day-to-day" stuff with them.  Well we had my first birthday dinner there and it was so fun!  Mom, Dad, Lauren, Richard, Ryan, Liz, Jordan, and Will and Matt and I got to celebrate!  I didn't take any pictures, but it was such a fun night.
The night of my actual birthday we went with a bunch of our friends to Your Pie.  Probably seems familiar because that's the exact thing we did last year, but it was just the perfect spot to go again :)
Matt got me a new lens for my camera for my bday (more on that later), so these pictures are a little funny looking. I was experimenting with all the settings while at dinner.
Becca made me the most WONDERFUL homemade pumpkin cake. Pumpkin is my favorite!

The whole group!  Thanks everyone for celebrating with me!

Doing the Can-Can

That might be a cheesy blog post, but Im ok with that.  As I have shown on the blog before, we planted a garden this past spring/summer.  We had a variety of different veggies, but the most productive veggie by far was the banana pepper.  Well, one can only eat so many banana peppers- so I decided I should giving canning a whirl.  I think it was a total success.  I say "think" because I haven't actually eaten any of them yet.

First I picked and washed all the peppers from the garden
I then washed the jars and added a garlic and salt mixture to the bottom
I cut all the peppers into 1/4 inch segments
 Filled the jars
I then boiled the lids to facilitate the canning process
Lastly I poured in the boiling vinegar mixture (to actually pickle the peppers) and put the lids on

Hopefully they will be delicious!
