Coming Along

We went by the house yesterday and there has been so much progress!  Let me preface all these pictures by saying that the put up the wrong color shake on the house.  Shake is the shingle-looking stuff that is on the garage and is currently brown.  It will be a tannish/creamish color where you see the brown shake and the green wrapping up top. They also have to put up more shutters on the windows up top, but you can really see how it is going to look.

Its come a long way hasn't it?  I am just getting so excited!
Here is a close-up of the stone that they added
And they went ahead and poured our driveway!
They also added our cabinets...which I love!
More cabinets in the Kitchen
Lastly, they added framing to the doors and windows and then added the actual doors on the inside.  They also put in the bathroom cabinets as well.  Its coming together, not too much longer!  I am just SO sick of moving that I could throw up.  I cannot wait til we are finished with all that.  I guess its something we have to get through to get to move in the house, but I am DONE!

May in pictures...

...with a few comments and explanations.  Sorry I have been a little MIA...we have been trying to move, study for boards, graduate, build a house, and a few other fun things stuffed in there. Its been hard to blog when all thats left in my apartment is a mattress, a TV, and some clothes.  We will be out of here by next Monday and moving in with our awesome sister and brother-in-law Jordan and Will for most of June!  Lauren and Richard are awesome too because they are letting us store a lot of our furniture in their garage...we have the best family :)

So here is May in pictures...lots to take in...not sure what the original order of all these events were, but here they are.  Brace yourself...this is a lot of pictures!

We spent a weekend with Cameron and Jonathan in Kiawah
Perfect day on the beach...even after an eventful start.  Nothing a call to a locksmith and $70 couldn't fix :)

Delicious dinner we cooked :)

Next, we celebrated Brad and Ryan's birthday

Birthday boys!
We ate at Moe's tavern for half priced burgers...so fun!

I also squeezed in graduation in there as well.  Ashley and I also got to eat with the president of MUSC the Wednesday before graduation, lucky us :)

Other MUSC people from all kinds of programs around the university and Dr. Ray Greenberg on the right
My fan club :)

Next was my hooding...here are all the PNPs minus Ashley and Amy- we missed yall!

Lastly, Matt and Ryan took a 21 mile Kayak Adventure down the Congaree and other surrounding creeks.  It was QUITE an adventure and took them three days to complete it.  They were kind enough to bring back some pictures.
Their campsite on the first night

Ryan cruising down the creek

Matt paddling his way down the river

After some major paddling/walking through a dried-up creek!

WHEW!  That was a lot, but its been a crazy month!  Next month I will hopefully be a better blogger and blog our adventures living with Jordan, Will, Grady, us, and Tiger!!  I WILL be an adventure, thats for sure, haha :)  LOTS has gone on with the house and I will try to get some pictures up soon!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Side note: The picture in the last post of the giant mess WAS NOT my house, it was a google image the show "hoarders."  It was brought to my attention that some of you may have thought that was MY house...haha.  I will clarify that it WAS NOT :)
Anyways, last night we went to the river dogs game downtown with Jordan and Will. It was really fun and they actually won! 6-4. After the second inning it was already 6-0, so it was pretty uneventful from them on out.  They do some of the craziest games/activities things at those games.  For example they had three of our their employees dress up as hot dogs and run around the bases in a race...I wish I had gotten a picture of it because its ridiculous.  There was another game where they had 2 seven year olds throw a giant hot dog and try to get it to land it a bun.  Are you sensing a theme?  I think they were pushing the weenies!
Matt and Will enjoying the game
As you can tell from the pictures, it was pretty crowded, haha.  More people came as the game went on :)
We will definitely be going back to more games this summer!

Packing Up

We have been very busy this weekend, not fun stuff, but busy none-the-less.  We have started the huge chore of packing up our apartment and putting it all into storage.  I thought that we really didn't have that much stuff...boy was I wrong.  I guess you always underestimate it.  My first chore was to clean out my closet.  I have needed to do this for a while, but never got around to it.  I have so many clothes that I just don't wear anymore and I needed to take them to Goodwill.  Have you all ever seen those shows on TLC or other channels about "hoarders?"  If you haven't they are totally disgusting and have bedrooms that looks like this...

OBVIOUSLY, my closet did not look anything like this, but Matt keeps calling me a hoarder, haha.  He is just the type of person that has no trouble just taking stuff to Goodwill if he hasn't used it in 4 days!  I always seem to come up with excuses of how I might use stuff one day.  Anyways, I did make some progress and ended up getting rid of a lot of stuff.  Here was my finished bags full of clothes.

I think it was 7 bags total to take to Goodwill...so MUCH progress!  It does feel good and so much lighter to have purged my closet of all the unwanted items.  So, that was our weekend...packing, moving, more packing, trips to the storage unit, trips to Goodwill, more packing, etc.  We took a break to go to church on Sunday and got to go to our new Sunday School class.  We moved up from the newlyweds class to the "young married" class.  It was really fun, its just a little weird to have pregnant women, couples with their newborn in class, or couples that have to leave early to run to the nursery in your class.  It is fun, but a big change from the newlyweds.  We are going through First John and its been great so far.
We didn't get to spend our mother's day with our moms this weekend, but they were here with us in spirit. We hope that they had a wonderful mother's day, they deserve it! Our preacher went around telling all the young couples without children yesterday "happy future mother's day," isn't that sweet? (Kinda took a lot of women off-guard haha) So hope all the mothers (and future mothers) out there had a wonderful mother's day!

Blessings

So the Cogdill's have had a pretty great week this week.  We have found out some pretty good news and just wanted to share it all...

1. We got our final loan approval on the house now that we are less than 60 days 'til closing...so now there is just more waiting.

2. Matt got his official job offer to continue at Roper St. Francis Healthcare system.  He will end his old job and begin transitioning into his new job June 1st.

3.  I found out today that I officially had a job, too!  I will be working in Pediatric Neurology at MUSC!  I will mainly be seeing patients on an outpatient basis with a rare trip to the children's hospital to see them inpatient.  It is an awesome job and I absolutely love the the doctors and the other PNPs that I will be working with.  My start date will be July 1st I am pretty sure.  Now I just have to think about what I will be doing for the next two months...haha.

And if thats not enough I get to spend all day every day with this little cutie :)

We have windows!

We stopped by the house and they had made some major progress.  We now have doors and windows!  It might not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but it was fun for us to see :)
They also put in all the bathtubs and the shower.  I am not typically a "bath person," but I think that I might have to become one since I have a nice, big one in our master bath.  My mom and sister are obsessed with baths and take one seriously every night, so maybe I can become like them, haha.  It really does seem like a good way to relax.
They put up the staircase, too so we can go upstairs and check out everything up there, too.
The put in the front and back door, too.
Here is a picture of the windows and door in the back.   I am exciting to see all the progress and in the next week they will be putting up drywall.  I am excited to see the progress move along...I am just dying to actually get moved in!

By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.

Jam-Packed Week

After I finished my last day of work last week, I headed back to Lexington to meet up with my parents and grandma and we headed back to Atlanta to drop her off at the airport.  We actually dropped her off at her niece's house and she was going to take her in the morning.  Well, right next to her niece's house was the "Dwarf House" which if you don't already know, its the very first chick-fil-a.   There is a whole story about why it is called the Dwarf House which can be found here if you are interested.  It is a tradition to walk through the little dwarf door, so I did of course :)  As far as the food, they serve regular chick-fil-a plus some additional options like chicken pot-pie, stir fry, etc.  It is a sit-down restaurant with a waitress, so its a little different.  I got the stir-fry, it was pretty good, but to be honest I missed my normal chick-fil-a.

Here is my mom and I with my grandma.  It was a little more chilly than we expected when we got there.  So if we look like we are freezing, we were!
After we dropped off my grandmother we of course went shopping.  I had never been to IKEA and thought since we were so close we should check it out.  It is seriously out of control...it is HUGE!  It was like disney world for furniture.  They had a whole food court, a playground and nanny service for children, and they even had to have arrows on the ground to just find your way around!  I think it was a little overwhelming because we barely bought anything.  I bought a little rack that goes above our desk and my mom bought napkins...not too exciting.
I think the best idea is to come with specific things in mind when you come, otherwise you can get overwhelmed very easily!  We spent the night in Atlanta and went to pottery barn again the next day.  I just got a rug and a few accessories this time, so no need for another U Haul, haha.
The next day we came back to Lexington and it was Matt's dad's retirement party.   It was such a wonderful event and I am so thankful that we were able to attend.  So many people had the most wonderful things to say about him and it was so great to here.  He truly made an impact on every employee that was under him...big and small positions.  The stories that were told about how he had touched their lives made me so proud to call him my father-in-law.  He left a legacy like no other at his job...I hope I can say that one day.
Matt made a good point after the whole event.  After we had listened to person after person talk about what a great man he was and what a difference he made in their lives, we realized that no one talked about his actual job.  Although he was great at what he did and I am sure made a great impact on his job, it was his character that everyone talked about.  They talked about how he was there for him and how he truly cared about everyone.  Matt and I learned many lessons that day about the person we want to be.
After his party we spent the rest of the weekend hanging out on the lake and being with our parents.  Ryan even came down with a few friends after exams and we hung out with them at the lake house Saturday night.  It was a long, but fun and relaxing weekend.   This is Tiger on his favorite spot on the boat!  Hopefully life will slow down a little bit and I will be a better blogger :)  I feel like I have tons to blog about and have to jam it all into one big post- I will do better, haha!  I am gonna go check out our house progress today so I will post new pictures soon!
