Reprieve

So every now and then life cuts you a break.  I know sometimes it feels like you are over your head with stuff to do, people to call, sickness, car trouble, job stress, etc etc...but then some moments you feel like life just handed you a "get out of jail free" card.  Today I feel like that.  I have been really, really stressed about trying to move, close on our house, get settled and sane before I start work less than 24 hours later.  I just felt a little out of control.   I am SO thankful that our parents are helping us move, but while I was at work Matt and they were gonna do all the fun stuff and I want to be able to help.  I like things to be pretty organized and when my house/life is hectic or messy I feel like I am all out of wack. So you can probably see how I was feeling a little out of wack heading into these next two days.   I got a pretty cool phone call today.  One of the neurologists I will be working for called me today and asked me if it would be ok to just have a meeting with him and other neurologist tomorrow and then not come back until Tuesday! Ugh....yes sir, I think that will be ok.  Anyways, that was pretty sweet news to me because I will be able to play in my house and organize, unpack, decorate, set up and get my life together thurs, fri, sat, sun, and monday!  Sometimes God just organizes everything perfectly for you...I love that I serve a God that cares about the crazy details of my life.  So just wanted to share with you all that sometimes life does give you a little reprieve...which may seem trivial to most everyone, but was huge to me :)

Go Braves!

Matt has always been a huge Braves fan.  He grew up watching every game and going to many, many games over his lifetime.  We have been to one Braves game before, but we hadn't been in a few years just because of all the busy schedules.  Well this weekend we got to take a little trip to Atlanta to go see them play!  Even though it was scorching hot, we had so much fun!
This was Will's first time to Turner Field.  He was very excited and impressed when we finally got there.
I wish I could say who these people were in this statue behind us...but, as you can probably expect..I don't.  I don't hate sports, I actually like most of them, but as far as knowing any sports info/trivia/people...I am at a loss.  I do enjoy going to see sports in person MUCH more than I do watching them on TV, so I was excited to actually be at a Brave's game.
Here are the men with Turner Field behind them while the players are warming up.
We finally made it to our seats.  They were pretty good seats and had a great view of the field.  We stayed in them a while but it was SO hot we had to take some A/C breaks :)
This is taken right after the Braves won (and after sitting in the 100 degree sun for a few hours)!  The ninth inning was very stressful.  We were up 4-1 when we entered the 9th, but after two quick outs we walked like 7 or 8 (I am guessing here) batters and that made the scored 4-3.  I think they had to switch the pitcher three times in one inning because they kept throwing balls.   But after all that, the Braves still won so thats all that matters!  And if that wasn't enough, Chipper hit a 3-run home run in the 7th inning!  Couldn't have asked for anything more :)
We all needed to relax at the hotel that night after a long day.  We watch the (very sad) CWS game and just hung out that night.  Overall, Atlanta was SO fun and I loved getting to go see the Braves play!

Final Touches

So we got a call this week saying our HOUSE WAS DONE and all they had left was the final clean up!! We were so excited.  We headed over there on Monday night to check it out, of course.  There are a few things left to to do like put in the rest of our appliances and screen-in our back porch...but it looks about complete!  We will be homeowners this time next week..yay!  Here are some pictures...

A view of our beautiful grass :)
This is kind of a weird picture, but I was trying to show you the carpet and hardwoods.  They have all the hardwoods covered with cardboard so its hard to see them anywhere...so this was the best view of them.  They look pretty so far!
This is more grass in the backyard and my mom who looks especially small, haha.

Cheesy pic looking out our dining room window :)
SIX MORE DAYS!  Can't wait!  On a side note, one week from today I start my job.  So many changes, but I am ready :)

Father's Day Celebrations

This weekend we took some time to celebrate our wonderful dads for father's day!  We both are so lucky to have some of the best dads there are in the world.  They both would do absolutely anything for us and have hearts of gold.  We call them "the Jeffs" because both of their names are ironically Jeff...and so is my brother's and Matt's middle name!  So there are A LOT of Jeffs in our families...I can imagine our son will have to have Jeffrey as a middle name, too...just to fit in haha!  I guess  if we only have girls, she can have it as a middle name, too...just kidding!  Anyways, it was a fun weekend getting to honor them for all the patience, kindness, and hard work they do all year long.

We spent a good portion of the weekend at the lake house grilling out and playing.  It was a lot of fun and we even made homemade ice cream...mmmmmm!
This is Tiger and Matt jumping off the dock.  This doesn't look like much, but it has taken all last summer and half of this one to get Tiger to be able to jump off a dock.  He was so scared at first.  I wish I had a video of the first couple times he jumped in.  He looked like a 200 lb 5 year old doing a belly flop.  It was hilarious!  He is much more of a pro now.
Tiger is obsessed with the lake....like seriously the moment we get there he runs full speed straight into the water.  We spend the whole weekend throwing that stupid stick into the water because he literally will swim ALL day long.
I will have to admit that my mom is Tiger's best friend when she is around.  She plays with him the ENTIRE time he is at her house.  He knows when he sees her its like playtime, haha.  She is the one that is up a 6 am every Saturday morning throwing stick.
Making homemade ice cream...yummy!

Here are the men grilling our steaks

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

We celebrated with Matt's dad the next day with a "burger bar."  It was pretty ridiculous amount of toppings to go on burgers!  Definitely a "man's meal!"
This is Matt's crazy burger...I think it has bleu cheese, bacon, avacado, cheddar cheese, ranch, tomato, mayo, and probably more...haha!  I am sure it was good, though!

We had a great time celebrating the dads!  Hope you all had a great Father's day, too!

Catching Up

So I realized that it is June 18th and I haven't even had a post this month...woops!  I thought I would have so much time during my time off, but it has been busy!   I've definitely been enjoying it though.  I have been all over the place during these few months and gotten to spend a lot of time with my family.  We are getting so close to moving in...less than two weeks!  It seems like time has seriously just flown by.  I start my job in less than two weeks as well.  I am going to try to squeeze in taking boards before all that, too!

A few weeks ago Lauren and I spent a week at the lake house.  It was so relaxing and we really just did nothing of importance (except the weekend that my dad decided we should roof the lake house as a family...needless to say we got 1/4 of the way done and we hired some one to finish it).  Our last day there we did venture of the lake house and go to a nice lunch at Cotton Grill in Lexington and do a little shopping.

If you are familiar with Lexington, Cotton Grill is in the old mill right on 12 mile creek.  It is really good and quite nice.  It was our first time going there and it was the perfect place for our "ladies lunch."  :)

Also while we were home one of my mom's best friends celebrated her birthday and they were nice enough to  invite us along :)  We went to Mellow Mushroom downtown and it happened to be trivia night.  Neither one of our teams won, but it was still a lot of fun!

Happy Birthday Michele!

And of course, LOTS is going on with our house!  The outside is pretty much complete...now they just have to give us some grass!

We have a dishwasher and countertops

Little messy still, but we have potties and sinks!  :)

They have painted and put up some baseboards and we get carpet today and hardwoods next week!  Next Friday we do our final walkthrough/ orientation with our builder.  I am so ready to move in its not even funny!

In the meantime we have been enjoying spending time between Jordan and Will's and Kiawah.  One of the VPs at Matt's work gave him their Kiawah house for the month...how nice is that?!?  But as much fun as it all has been we are ready to have our house.

Last but not least, last night we went out to dinner to one of our favorites in Charleston, J Paulz.  It is a tapas and sushi place.  To me, it has the best sushi in Charleston.  Here we are at dinner...

One of the most fun parts about J Paulz is they have a "lounge" area where we sat where you get to sit on cushions and have curtains that you can pull around you.  Kinda hard to explain, but its more fun than your average table :)
Well, that was a lot for one post!   Life is kinda crazy right now, haha!   Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend celebrating their fathers! We sure will, we have a lot to celebrate!
