I love escaping to the mountains in the middle of summer! Running from the hundred plus temps to cool, nonhumid, mid seventies and the beauty of the mountains. With three boys the adventures are endless! We traveled to Helen, GA for a little mountain get-away in June and it was perfect!
We hiked, we camped, we swam, we tubed down the river, we ate smores, and had a ball!
My parents are so adventurous and always looking for fun, exciting things to do. Well they recently bought a camper to do just that. So the Cogdills all piled in with GG and Pop Pop (the monks had already planned on staying at a resort right down the road that week) and we had a blast! I was SOO nervous about camping with a 4, 2 and 11 month old, but they did FABULOUSLY!
It was the type of vacation that you wear old clothes, don't put on make up, get dirty and just UNPLUG! I loved every minute.
We did several big hikes and these two boys thought it was the best! There were so many new bugs, plants, and animals to see!
Here we are about to hike down to Dukes Creek Falls!
Walker just hopped on my back when it got a little steep or he got tired
We made it!
GG and Pop Pop kept Lawson so we could do a big boy hike!
Another day we went out to dinner, played putt putt and then got ice cream!
Happy cousins!
Walker LOOOOVED putt putt! Literally every time he made the ball in the hole (mind you it was after 105 strokes) he screamed with delight like he just made a hole in one. Precious!
Banks really loved putt putt too and was actually very good!
Lawson got the VIP treatment all week !
Lucky lucky grandkids!
Walker LEGIT got a hole in one once! It was priceless!
This boy looooves his daddy!
...and his pop pop!
So there was a Western Sizzlin like 2 minutes from where we were staying and Matt was determined to take the boys. For me, it was every bit as gross as anticipated, but for B this was the highlight of his life. He told me he wanted to come back for his birthday. He got to eat as much bacon, pancakes, muffins, fruit, eggs....etc as his heart desired. And if there is one thing B loves its breakfast! He even was so excited because "mommy, mommy they have PEACH COBBLER for breakfast! "
I of course had to document this occasion...ew.
Playing in the rivers was a highlight! Matt and Pop Pop taught them how to build damn and skip stones.
One day we tubes down the Chatahoochee river and it was SO FUN! It was Banks favorite thing we did all of vacation. I didn't take my phone so there are no pictures, but it was awesome. It took about two hours, Banks had his own tube tied to mine and he thought he was big stuff. His favorite parts were the "rapids" of course!
Hangin by the campfire!
My parents kept all the kids one day and us and the Monks went zip lining! It was so fun!
The curly-headed cutie loved camping! He slept like a CHAMP the whole time!
GG made us a big breakfast every morning with either French toast, egg, pancakes, or bacon!
We visited Unicoi state park which was beautiful!
We hiked to Anna Ruby falls
We saw a Copper Head on the trail! It was cool and terrifying!
Anna Ruby Falls!
We ate at a yummy pizza place one night! It was a hit!
And while we were eating we saw a BLACK BEAR right across the road! Crazy!
Walker finally found a friend that makes the same face he does ...hahaha!
Smores!
We took another hike with our girlies!
Monk Family!
Blakely was giving Walker a nature lesson
"Troll Cave"
Diva haha
One last lunch with GG before heading home!
We had a wonderful, wonderful time! Cant wait for our next adventure!
