23 Months Old

Banks, you are 23 months old!  One month away from being TWO!  Hard to believe!

This is by far my favorite age.  It is exhausting of course, but so much fun.  You are a talking, climbing, opinionated, funny, outgoing, little show off.  I adore your personality! 

You are growing so big!  ALL your shoes became too small overnight!  We had to go out and get some size 7s and 8s immediately.  You are wearing size 2T or 3T in Jon Jons, size 2T shirts, and size 12-18 month short (skinny minnie!). 

You are talking up a storm and you are hilarious!  We find ourselves cracking up all the time at the things you say. Here are some funny things you've said/done lately:

- You were lying in bed with us watching cartoons (on Saturdays we let you lay with us after you wake up) and you pointed to your pillow and say "Mama, one more!"  I guess you know how to get comfortable! 

- You will lift up heavy stuff (or stuff you think is heavy), drop it, and flex while saying "B Biiiiig!"

- Your milk split a little bit in the living room on the hardwoods, you ran to the kitchen, grabbed a paper towel, wiped it up, threw it away, and yelled "all clean!"

- 

We have gotten your big boy room semi-set up and we are thinking about transitioning you in the next week or so.  You really like your new bunk beds so hopefully you will like sleeping all night in them too :)

It has been a week without "num nums" AKA paci!  You will have one in your crib to "sleep with," but you don't really suck on it, just hold it.  Otherwise during the day you are paci-free!  You did SOOOO well and it was a piece of cake.  We told you were a big boy and big boys leave num nums in the crib and you said, "ok" and cheerfully throw them in the crib when you get up.  You impress me so much with how easily you transition.  I fear changes and transitions for you, but you always prove me wrong.  

You have tried all kinds of new foods this month, but your favorite is fried okra! So funny, but you tried it and devoured it!  It counts as a veggie, right? 

You LOVE being a wild man- jumping on the bed, jumping off the couch, jumping into the pool, climbing up ladders, having daddy throw you, etc.  You have no fear....which tends to scare your mother.  There is no height too high, no jump too big, no ladder too tall!  You are 110% boy!!!

You are saying so many things!  You are really starting to put together lots of two and three word phrases on your own.  You have also started saying "Thank you" without prompting!  You know all your colors and can say each one (red, yellow, blue, green, orange, purple, black, brown, and white).  You know the difference between big and small, hot and cold, tall and short, in and out, and up and down. You know a circle, square, triangle, rectangle, diamond, heart, and sometimes oval.  You know a lot of letters, but not all of them.  You can definitely point out the B, A, N, K, and S....and then some others, too!  You really do like learning, so its fun to work on things with you!

You are becoming more independent and you have less stranger danger.  You are liking to "play" with friends more and interact with eachother.  We are still working on sharing, of course! 

You start preschool two mornings a week the beginning of next month. I would be lying if I wasn't a little scared, but I think you will do great and it will be so good for you. 

We love you Banks and can't believe you are TWO in just a few short weeks!
