For the past couple of months my sister and I have been planning a surprise 30th anniversay party for my parents. It was so hard to finally tackle down a date, get everyone invited, organize everything, but it was ALL worth it!! It was Friday night and they were SO SURPRISED! Since their anniversary isn't until January 5th- it really caught them off gaurd. We had the best time and served hot dogs in honor of their first date (long story!). For their gift we had a photographer friend (who also photographed my wedding) refurbish one of their pictures from their wedding. It turned out great! For those of you who know Ryan, does that not look JUST like him? Kinda creepy.... haha.

Tim, the photographer, also captured the WHOLE party, including the surprise on his camera. So it was like hiring a professional photographer! Once we get those pictures back, I will share.
Here is a picture of the cake table

Here is the actual cake. The cake is in honor of their first date. The story has to different versions, one by my dad and one by my mom. The story goes that my dad asked my mom out on date. My mom says it was an official date, my dad said he was planning to just "grab supper." My mom went and bought a whole new outfit and my dad showed up in a purple tie-dyed T-shirt, cut off jeans, and flip flops. The dorm didn't serve dinner on Friday night, so obviously my mom assumed that they would be going out. Well much to her disappointment as they went downstairs they steered right toward the cafeteria where a club on campus was selling hot dogs 2/$1. This is where their story differs. My dad said that they both paid for their own hot dog, hence "Lets go Dutch." My mom says that she had to pay for both of theirs, hence the "Oops I forgot my wallet." SO- on Friday, after they told their versions, the guests ate whichever half they agreed with. Needless to say, my dad won by a landslide :)

The decorations in the living room. It does add some confusion when you are throwing a surprise party for somebody at their OWN HOUSE! It worked out perfectly though, and it could not have been more fun.

Congratulations mom and dad on THIRTY years! I hope that Matt and I are just as happy as you in 29 years. We had fun celebrating with you :)
