Telling The Families: Part 2

It was fun to tell Matt's family because this is the first grandchild on that side.  It worked out well because his dad and Pam happened to be down for the night to go out to eat.  We decided we were going to wrap up a gift and put it under the tree and tell Mr. Jeff that we forgot to give it to him for Christmas.  Everyone was in our living room when he opened it up.  Inside the box was this:
At first he just kinda stared at the box confused.  Like, "oh wow you got me a tiny glove and a baseball."  But after a few seconds it clicked and he was shocked!  He pulled out the glove and ball and everyone started to understand.  Everyone was so excited!  Matt chose to tell his dad this way because playing baseball with him growing up was one of Matt's favorite memories and he knows his dad will continue this tradition with his grandchildren.
Right after he heard the big news

I think everyone was a little bit excited :)  After we told the good news we went out to eat to celebrate.  Mr. Jeff may or may not have carried his glove and baseball around the whole time we were waiting for our table.  When our waitress got there he told her "I'm going to be a granddad!"  She was not interested at all and just responded with a long pause and then "can I get you something to drink?"  We should have reduced her tip for her lack of enthusiasm, haha.

The next day we drove to meet Matt's mom in Orangeburg and surprise her with the big news!  She did admit later that she was a little suspicious with the fact that we asked to meet her on a random Sunday.  It was still so fun to get to tell her and pick our grandparent names!  She was so excited!

We waited a while to tell our friends the big news.  Our appointment still wasn't for a few more weeks so had to keep a huge secret!  We did give in and tell a few friends, but for the most part we waited.  You don't know how good it feels to know that the news is out and we don't have to continue to remember who we have told. Such fun news to get to share!
